Hamilton Specialist Referrals (HSR) is a state-of-the-art, independent orthopaedic and neurology specialist veterinary referral hospital, five minutes from J4 of the M40, Buckinghamshire. We offer the most cutting-edge investigations and treatments into orthopaedic and neurological disease in small animals. As part of our structured growth plan we have a full-time vacancy for a Hydrotherapy Assistant to join the friendly and supportive Kennel and Paddock rehabilitation team, based at Hamilton Specialist Referrals.

We are looking for a mature, reliable hard worker with a genuine passion for pets and client care. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, enthusiastic and approachable person with a positive work ethic who is a great team player but is also able to use their own initiative and self-motivate. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to multi-task with a flexible approach to working are a must.

The position is full time, 40 hours a week, which will include some evenings and Saturdays. The successful candidate will work alongside qualified Hydrotherapists, bringing dogs and owners to the hydrotherapy room, preparing dogs for their hydrotherapy treatment, showering and drying them before and after hydrotherapy sessions, answering the phone, booking appointments, and maintaining the general cleanliness of the rehabilitation facilities.

As the assistant, you will learn the keys roles of hydrotherapy, with hands on experience, and upon completion of twelve months continual service, there will be the possibility to undertake the level 3 Hydrotherapy course, treating dogs in the hydrotherapy pool and aquatic treadmill. This position offers an assistant salary in Year 1, which will increase upon completion of the hydrotherapy course.

Experience with and knowledge of dogs is essential, and the successful candidate must be hard working, happy to help in the water and be unphased about getting covered in wet dog hair!

If you are a team player wanting to make a difference, looking to work in a fun and nurturing environment with great training and development opportunities and a strong focus on employee well-being, then we want to hear from you.

For the right people, we provide:

  • A strong focus on employee wellbeing and mental health, including regular sessions with industry-specific resilience, stress management and performance coaches
  • A nurturing, friendly and supportive working environment
  • A wide range of employee benefits
  • Unlimited career development opportunities, due to our dynamic team structure which is focused on areas of expertise
  • Regular team socials
  • CPD Allowance and continual in-service house training
  • Pension
  • A welcoming, friendly and educational working environment
  • Diploma in Animal Care Level 2/3
  • ABC level 3 in Small Animal Hydrotherapy
