Physiotherapist - Full Time

Job Title: Physiotherapist - Full Time 

Reporting To: Senior Nurse Manager

Reason for the Role:

To support our team of physiotherapists in the delivery of an effective physiotherapy service within the Hospital. You will deliver physiotherapy and support hydrotherapy to a range of small animal patients and assist in the outpatient service to pet owners and referring veterinary surgeons.

Key Accountabilities

General responsibilities

  • To provide physiotherapy to patients within the hospital and on an out-patient basis, with supervision where required.
  • In consultation with the senior Physiotherapist, liaise with clinicians, veterinary nurses and owners to ensure a coherent patient care plan.
  • To contribute to the implementation and validation of clinical quality assurance measures.
  • Communicate and provide advice to owners of patients, including emotional support.
  • Responsible for ensuring equipment within the area of specialism is maintained and for sourcing new equipment when required.

Pricing/ paperwork

  • Ensuring that all patients treatments are charged for at the time.
  • Participate in the out-patient clinic and maintaining patient records, ensuring that all documents are completed.

Discharges

  • Discharging patients back to owners, going through medication and discharge instructions on top of the physiotherapy requirements.

Handovers

  • Attend morning rounds to determine which inpatients require support and appointments from the rehab department.  
  • Disseminate information on the patients care to team members.

Communication with clients

  • Discharging patients and calling to book in appointments as required.
  • Liaise with referring veterinarians regarding patient care.
  • Respond to advice calls and either deal with the call directly or collect the appropriate information and pass it to the relevant clinician.

Using Easyvet

  • Using our in-house computer system to book appointments and record clinical notes.

Teaching/training

  • Contribute to the training and supervision of students with practical and theoretical tuition & assessment within physiotherapy.

Clinical Research

  • Assist data collection for gait analysis, teaching and research purposes.

 

Experience:

Essential:

Comprehensive breadth and depth of physiotherapy knowledge to teach veterinary nursing students.

Post-qualification experience of performing physiotherapy in small animals.

 

 

Desirable:

Experience working in a veterinary referral centre.

Teaching and assessment experience

Qualifications:

BSc or equivalent in Veterinary Physiotherapy
