Ward Manager RVN

As part of our structured growth plan we are now seeking an experienced RVN to manage our passionate, friendly and supportive wards team. The role will be based in our state of the art kennels and cat wards, nursing orthopaedic, neurological, soft tissue and cardiology patients. The successful candidate will have held their RVN qualification for a minimum of five years and will have a minimum of four years’ experience in a referral environment, with experience of nursing orthopaedic and neurological patients. You will have proven experience in managing a team and/or as a Senior Nurse/Nurse Practitioner. Additional qualifications or training in leadership/management are desirable but not essential.

Main roles and Responsibilities

  • Line managing the Ward RVN team
  • Rota management
  • Conducting one-to-one sessions and performance reviews
  • Ensure all Ward staff are working to the desired performance levels and have all the resources they require to do so
  • Training new Ward RVNs
  • Partake in management meetings to present positive change ideas in line with business growth
  • Assist senior ward nurses and ward nurses in the delivery of nursing care

  • Working with the senior ward nurses to ensure the day is properly organised and that there is good communication between the floor co-ordinator and admit nurse as necessary
  • Assisting Senior Team with regular reports & audits
