Night Nurse

Do you have a passion for providing advanced based nursing care to medical, surgical and high dependency patients? Do you want to be part of an established, multi-discipline referral centre? Do you enjoy working in a small, friendly and fun team?

Continuous Excellence: Advanced Care, Round the Clock

Are you an experienced RVN driven by a passion for delivering exceptional nursing care? Do you thrive in a dynamic environment where teamwork and dedication are paramount? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you!

We are currently seeking a Night Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our passionate and friendly night nursing team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in providing advanced care to our referral inpatients and handling out-of-hour emergencies with efficiency and compassion.

This role promises an exciting mix of cases, where our Night Teams shine in providing exceptional care to every patient. From those recovering from surgery to those facing medical challenges, you'll be part of a compassionate team ensuring every furry friend receives the best attention. Collaborating closely with fellow RVNs, our Night Nurse Team Leader, Veterinary Interns, VCAs, and on-call European Specialists, you'll find a supportive and friendly atmosphere that truly puts our patients first. And that's not all – we're growing our team and eagerly anticipating the arrival of an OOH/HDU Vet in April! What's more, we're excited to extend a warm welcome to more OOH HDU Vets.

Join us on a journey within a team where professionalism, mutual respect, and a steadfast commitment to excellence are the cornerstones of our culture. Here, you'll find a supportive environment that fosters growth and provides all the resources you need to flourish. Comprehensive training is readily available, ensuring you're fully prepared to succeed and make a positive impact. We're excited to welcome you aboard and help you thrive!

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing high-standard nursing care across all disciplines and wards
  • Collaborating effectively with clinicians and the clinical team
  • Engaging in clear communication with clients regarding their pet's care and treatment
  • Ensuring thorough handovers between day and night teams to maintain continuity of care
  • Covering anaesthesia of patients when required

Work with Cutting-edge Facilities

Situated just outside of High Wycombe (J4, M40), Buckinghamshire, Hamilton Specialist Referrals (HSR) is a purpose-built, state of the art veterinary hospital that provides the latest in specialist treatments for cats and dogs, supported by an exceptional rehabilitation and physiotherapy facility.

The hospital is operational 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and can offer the most advanced treatment options available for Orthopaedic, Neurology, Soft Tissue, Oncology, and Internal Medicine cases. There is a 1.5T high-field magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computerised tomography (CT) suite on-site, and the hospital has invested in the latest direct digital radiography systems (also known as radiographs or X-rays) (DR). We routinely use computerised gait analysis to aid in the diagnosis of complex multi-limb lameness and employ the same technology to monitor recovery from surgery. This individual approach to post-operative rehabilitation optimises outcomes and shortens recovery times. Despite working within such a large team, we pride ourselves on maintaining a friendly and supportive culture with a focus on development, clinical excellence, and gold standard patient care.

Our dedicated team has recently introduced a state-of-the-art HDU unit, a remarkable addition that significantly elevates the level of care and support we can offer to our valued patients. This exciting enhancement is a testament to our steadfast commitment to our patient’s wellbeing and recovery. With cutting edge technology and a compassionate approach, we're setting new standards in patient care excellence. Our new facility will be staffed with a dedicated team, whose primary focus will be to cater for all our patient's specific needs.

A Collaborative Environment

Be part of a supportive and collaborative team where your contributions are valued. Our clinic fosters an environment of continuous learning and professional growth, ensuring that you thrive both personally and as a vital member of our veterinary family. We have a dedicated team of over 100 people, including 11 specialists, 2 ECC vets, 2 residents, 26 RVNs and various support teams.

What You’ll Need

  • RVN Qualification held for at least 2 years
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to patient safety
  • Previous experience in a referral hospital and/or out of hours role is desirable but not essential

However, we're flexible and open to discussing alternative arrangements.
