Ricardo graduated from the University “Vasco da Gama” (Portugal) in 2007. After completing a one year externship in a private referral practice in Barcelona, he moved to UK in 2008 where he spent the following three years working as a veterinary surgeon in a busy first opinion practice.
Following his interest in small animal surgery Ricardo completed a surgical internship at Fitzpatrick Referrals Ltd., followed by a one-year rotational junior scholarship at Cambridge Veterinary School. In 2013, Ricardo joined Liverpool University’s small animal teaching hospital, where he spent the following two years working as a clinical researcher and orthopaedic intern. Ricardo joined Anderson Moores Veterinary Specialists Ltd, in 2013 to complete a three-year residency program, credited by the European Collage of Veterinary Surgeons. Following this, Ricardo joined Langford Veterinary Specialists (Bristol University) and Highcroft Veterinary Referrals Ltd as a senior staff clinician surgeon where he obtained his diploma as a European Specialist in Small Animal surgery.
Ricardo has co-authored several research projects, presented at multiple national and international congresses and in 2015 he was awarded with the Leslie Vaughan prize for the best clinical abstract presentation at British Veterinary Orthopaedic Association. Ricardo is currently undertaking the CertAVP in imaging and is an examiner for the European School of Veterinary Postgraduate Studies in surgery. Ricardo is interested in all aspects of surgery but particularly in total joint replacement.
