Kit Room Assistant

Type – Full-time, permanent

Department – Veterinary Care Assistants

We are thrilled to invite applications from experienced candidates seeking to join our team as a Kit Room Assistant, within our cutting-edge multi-discipline referral hospital.

The role covers 40 hours per week, and includes a 1 in 6 weekend rotation for which time back in lieu is given.

You would work alongside our Kit Room Supervisor, and be part of a wider team of 9 veterinary care assistants.

Key duties include:

  • Helping to facilitate the maintenance of surgical equipment
  • Stock control of clinical consumables
  • Assisting in ensuring surgical instruments are cleaned, packed and sterilised appropriately
  • Supporting the wider VCA team with their tasks as needed
  • Assisting in the cleaning and clearing of theatre once surgical procedures have finished if kit is completed
  • Assist with training of new members of staff

Experience of working in a clinical environment, ideally within a theatre-based role, is essential. You must be a team player as our Kit Room Assistant will play a vital role in supporting our specialists, interns and nurses in the smooth running of our surgical workflow. You must be willing and able to achieve and maintain the very highest standards within Infection Control, in order to support the hospital to achieve the necessary clinical standards expected within an environment such as this, being able to work in a consistently thorough manner, in a fast paced environment  and having a high attention to detail is essential for this role.

This role would be a great opportunity for progression for an existing patient care assistant or similar, looking to specialise within a specific area of the hospital.

Please note, candidates must be able to work in the UK independently, as we are not able to offer visa sponsorship.
