Rotating Internship

Housing a clinical team led by specialists, our veterinary practice is staffed by devoted surgeons and highly skilled nurses. We provide unparalleled expertise and capability, extending compassionate, respectful, and caring treatment to both clients and patients. 
This role is the perfect opportunity to work collaboratively with clinicians across multiple disciplines and expand your skills, knowledge, and experience. We offer a specialist-led internship programme for a duration of 12 to 18 months. 


What Does an Intern Do?

Interns will openly engage in case discussions with the senior supervising clinicians, residents and senior nursing team and should contribute to a positive, informative, respectful, and inclusive environment for all. Attention to detail, particularly with maintaining accurate records and written correspondence is also a key component of this role. Active involvement in client communication and patient care is expected, with participation in consults and treatments/surgeries. 
Our internship programme offers weekly journal clubs and radiography rounds. You will work with a dedicated supervising clinician to participate effectively in all aspects of planning, diagnosis, and treatment of cases.
Animal welfare and the ethics of interventions must be considered by balancing practical and financial factors when determining appropriate patient care. Therefore, the ability to apply prior knowledge and experience to maintain the high clinical standards expected within our hospitals is essential.

Unparalleled clinical care, delivered in a friendly and supportive manner to Referral Vets, is paramount to the team. The hospital is operational 24 hours a day, 365 days per year, and can offer the most advanced treatment options available for Orthopaedic, Neurology, Soft Tissue, Oncology and Internal Medicine case. Facilities include on-site 1.5T MRI and CT scanner suites, various joint replacement systems, electrodiagnostics, and a full complement of the latest radiography and arthroscopy equipment. 
The practice currently has three theatres, each with dedicated modern anaesthetic workstations with integrated ventilators and multiparameter monitors, a portable ultrasound scanner and nerve locator to facilitate locoregional anaesthetic techniques. The hospital is currently expanding to include a high dependency unit (HDU) for care and recovery from anaesthesia of sicker patients, as well as additional theatre space. 
Located in modern facilities, we are based in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, within easy reach of London, Oxford, the Chilterns and the Cotswolds. The hospital is five minutes from the M40 and is located near major airports.

We have a dedicated team of over 100 people, including 11 specialists, 2 ECC vets, 2 residents, 26 RVNs and various support teams. 


What You Need to Join Our Team 

  • Be MRCVS or MRCVS eligible 
  • Eligible to work in the UK independently or under a Visa Sponsorship 
  • For non-native English speakers, evidence of competency in speaking English, as determined by a formal qualification in English (such as IELTS or TOEFL) is desirable
  • Demonstrate proactivity and enthusiasm as team players, utilising your own initiative
  • Prior anaesthesia and/or intensive care experience
  • Capability to work autonomously and under supervision
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The capacity for multitasking and a flexible work approach


Achieve a Work-life Balance

The average weekly hours for the role are 40, with varied shifts to ensure a comprehensive experience across our services. The weekly rotations include Internal Medicine (plus Oncology), Out of Hours (nights and weekends), Surgery (Soft Tissue and Orthopaedics) and Neurology. Teaching is an essential component of the internship, with weekly scheduled didactic seminars and lectures, M+M rounds which are intern lead, which will augment the clinical experience.
